
Australian Archery Hall of Fame Medal
When the Association was first approached in of 2009 to be involved in the awards, the Committee's first assignment was to determine just what the medal would represent. The Committee felt that Life Membership was the highest service honour it could bestow on a member and the Annual Shooter of the Year and Steven Reeks and Marg Cowin Awards represented the pinnacle of performance recognition for a competitor.
Given the environment in which the award is presented, the Committee agreed that the medal should be awarded to a member of 3DAAA who has an established history in the promotion and support of archery in general.
Garry Dawson
This year's winner has a long history in the sport of archery and the Committee recognises his involvement over the past 30 years.
Never one to be trying to drive the bus, Garry's commitment to the sport has always been "in the background" and "under the radar".
When the bus got stuck, you could always guarantee Garry would be down the back pushing.
