3DAAA at the 2010 Australiam Archery Hall of Fame Archery Expo

3DAAA was first approached late in 2009 to participate in the 2010 Australian Archery Hall Expo and Medal presentation. With the Association starting to emerge from its humble beginnings 10 years ago, to a equal partner on the archery landscape, the Committee decided to make a commitment to be involved for the next 2 years at least

Attendance at these types of events are not without significant cost, however the AAHOF Expo and Dinner offered us a unique opportunity to present the Association directly to archers and bowhunters.

The event was held at the Liverpool Catholic Club some 40kms west of the Sydney CBD and was attended by a number of archery retailers and manufacturers as well as bowhunting  groups, the NSW Game Council and the other archery associations.
From the comments I heard the event was a worthwhile effort for those exhibitors who attended and plans are already in place to make it bigger next year.

Garry Dawson was presented with the 2010 AAHOF Medal at the dinner for his involvement in the sport of archery for the past 30 years.

You’ll start to notice the Association’s new tag line “The Ultimate Archery Challenge” receiving a greater prominence over the coming months. As the major archery associations begin to work co-operatively the Committee felt that it was important that we differentiated ourselves from the other forms of the game.

During the afternoon, Mike, Chris and I attended a meeting with the ABA Executive and the AA Board. The meeting confirmed previous commitments from the associations to work together on a range of issues which would deliver benefits to all their respective members. An announcement regarding the proposed direction of the peak body was made at the dinner. Whilst the AAHOF played no part in the parties coming together, the three organisations felt that the dinner offered a unique environment in which to make the announcement. On behalf of 3DAAA, I'd like to thank Ian Fenton for the opportunity to make that announcement.

Finally I’d like to thank the people who gave up their time to man the booth and represent the Association at the dinner. As usual Chris and Eleni Wakely travelled from Casino to setup the display. Although Dawso was there to accept an award he spent the day on the stand pushing our unique form of the game. Steve Musgrove, Norm and I blew in early on Saturday morning followed closely by Mike Parker and Kim Melit. Thanks to the Manly and Cessnock clubs for the loan of the 3D targets. Bringing them down from Brisbane on the plane certainly would have cost us a packet in excess baggage charges.
